Social housing provider mhs homes is currently developing more than 150 homes in Medway, with work on its Theatre Quarter scheme scheduled to finish in mid-March.
Located on the former site of the Theatre Royal Auditorium in Chatham, the £4.7 million project includes 26 properties, split into two blocks. In Block A, eight homes have been allocated for affordable rent and eight for shared ownership. In Block B, 10 units are being developed for market rent.
Homes were designed by Go Planning and Jenner is the contractor for the scheme. The Homes and Communities Agency contributed £650,000 towards the project.
The company has also invested £10 million on another Chatham scheme. The Brook will see 75 homes built across three separate sites by the end of 2017. Planning permission has been granted for the redevelopment of Eldon Street, which will feature 19 homes, eight homes will be built at Upbury Way and an application for a further 52 homes at Cross Street and Grieveson House is being prepared.
Gary Clark, operations director at mhs homes, said: “We are increasing our portfolio in Medway and the surrounding areas as part of our ongoing commitment to provide affordable homes for local people.”
