Student flats ready and waiting

Wed 26 August 2009, 11:45 am

The initial phase of Berkeley Firstís Victory Pier development is preparing to welcome its first residents when the university year gets underway next month.
Located on Gillinghamís waterfront, Liberty Quays, which is to provide living, study and dining areas for more than 600 first year students, is the first purpose-built student accommodation away from the University of Kentís main Medway campus.

In addition to the delivery of the student accommodation, Tesco has an Express supermarket on site, and both Subway and Dominos Pizza have also taken space.

But Victory Pier is not all about student living. The development is well and truly mixed-use, with work on a 120-bedroom hotel already underway, and 60 residential units for the elderly, 43 for shared ownership, and improved areas of public realm, to make up the rest of the development when planning is secured.
